So, I guess it’s not okay for teachers to want to work in a situation where they’re unlikely to bring Covid-19 home to their families?

Some days (yesterday) Ramirez seems sane and responsible. Other days (today) Ramirez seems to be toeing the Qpublican line without regard to anything other than the required talking points for the week.

Shafting poor brown children, again. The soft racism of the left is getting harder.

I wonder what the Chicago schools did with the $200M we gave that was supposed to be used for covid mitigation measures?

Seriously…what is the big urgency for kids and teachers to be IN SCHOOL when there’s a PANDEMIC ? Remote learning is temporary. Why all the fuss? Who wants to be sick? Insane reasoning!!!! Who is gaining?

Our little parochial school in South Haven MI shutdown down only for a few weeks when a child or teacher was exposed to a sick person. Otherwise it stayed open thru out this two plus year nightmare. Unfortunately the public schools did shutdown. Needless to say, the parochial students are way ahead of the public school students.

Over the past 2 years, no one has done more damage to public education in this country than public school teachers. They have managed to ensure and promote the future of private schools and home schooling. Good luck at getting any public education levies passed for the next several years.

Denying science, discounting statistical evidence, and providing unlimited hosts for a highly contagious lethal pandemic, do NOT seem like good planks in a political platform.

When you agree to become an employee, you don’t agree to become a serf. Teachers are insisting that school districts step up and make sure that sick kids are not coming to school. My district does that. For us it’s a matter of survival, we’re small and if three teachers come down with Covid, we’re done, we have to close down.

Right now about a third of our kids are out sick. 5 out of 6 of my grandkids have or have had covid. They caught it at school and then gave it to their parents. Grandma (my wife) probably has it, we babysit on Sundays. Omicron is a tough bug and the only thing the vaccine seems to be doing is making sure we don’t have to go to the hospital.

This is a real problem and we teachers are right to be worried and insist that the people who are supposed to make sure we have a safe work place do their jobs.

Teachers unions are despised by conservatives. So it really doesn’t matter what they do…conservatives will attack.

Conservatives HATE it when workers use their collective power to protect themselves. They’d much rather see these teachers go in and die for the cause.

I’d like to know why the leftists here think teachers be held to different standards than anyone else in the general work force? You think teachers should be exempt from showing up for work like fire fighters, EMTs, cops, burger flippers, farmers and their harvest crews, doctors, nurses, restaurant workers, grocery store workers, accountants, CPAs, lawyers, judges etc.? Why do you put teachers on an ivory pedestal? Blatant display of left wing double standards and hypocrisy.
