Such is life, but we now know how viruses work. We/re not in the Black Plague, and Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch proved the germ theory a century and a half ago.
The 10th pin had been unvaccinated and already died of COVID, claiming it was “just the flu” and “would be gone by April” while cursing his caregivers with his last breath.
Early returns are in on omicron (which, BTW, should be pronounced ŏmicron, with a short O, because Greek uses ōmega for the long O), and it appears to be more contagious but less lethal than delta. That is, it spreads faster, but a lower percentage of the people who get it actually die. This is the reverse of Ebola, which isn’t particularly contagious, in part because it’s so deadly that it almost invariably kills off its hosts quickly, before they can pass it on.
Bottom line is that it’s like the little kid who keeps asking “Are we there yet?”. The time of the journey is dependent on 2 different factors: how far you have to go and how fast you’re going. Same deal here. Total deaths are dependent on how many people get the disease times the percentage of them who will die from it. Given that, delta and omicron are each likely to rack up comparable body counts.

Yeah. Not my favorite metaphor because there ARE things we can do… but yeah.

surely a second Presidency for Trump would harm America far worse than a new Covid aimed right at us but there be no vaccine for his degeneracy;

Wear a mask. It’s not that hard. And for some folks, you look really hot! So, just do it.

COVID Volunteers need to be at the bottom of the priority list for hospital beds, not the top.
