Last real tree we put up was so loaded with ragweed that even the dog was wheezing and choking in less than an hour. Threw it out and bought an artificial one. Never went back!
I was saddened by the observation in March or so, when I was about five years old, of the dead xmas tree in our backyard; Why did we kill something to celebrate a birth? That and the overall syrupy facade of “the season”… I have never since had any use for it.
Wanna know what I REALLY miss? Wanna know my favorite Christmas decoration? That silver aluminum tree with the pom-pom branches we had when I was a kid.
If I go to the trouble of decorating a tree, I don’t want to have to take it down again just 12 days later. I use an artificial one so I can put it up the day after halloween, and leave it up until spring break (or all year)
I don’t think they still make artificial trees where you have to stick each branch in individually. Nowadays, they come in three parts that you stick one on top of another.

I never wanted a fake tree. It’s just the cost of real trees got clean out of sight.

We have an artificial tree. Some years we go with a real one. I love the smell of the house when that happens

I remember growing up as a kid we had one of the silver aluminum ones with the rotating disk that would shine different colors on it

I haven’t had a real tree since I was a kid. We got a pre lit one and it looks just as nice and a lot cheaper. Plus, the cats love it.

My last tree was a REAL tree about 25 years ago and I recently had to have it cut down because it died. It was taller than my 3 story house.
