Yep. That’s how it works: Demand exceeds supply, so the ones who are willing to bid up the price get; and the ones who aren’t/cannot don’t get. Of course for gasoline, first there’s a moment when the vendors look around and REALIZE they can jack the prices. Note that if we all suddenly had electric vehicles, the price of gasoline would drop: Supply would exceed the demand. Go thou and do the obvious thing, eh?
The price of gasoline has been steadily increasing since late spring 2020, when Trump pressured the Saudis to end their price war with Russia. God forbid anything should happen to shirtless Vladimir’s petroprofits.
Once again, you prove your ignorance, Gorrell. The President has no power over gas prices (remember Capitalism?). Unless of course he wants to proliferate a viral plague, kill 600,000 Americans, and shut down the economy ala Trump.
If Biden or any president has power over gas prices, why don’t they wave their magic wands and make them fall to 33¢/gallon, the price I paid in high school?
as @cessna172 and @braindead pointed out, Gorrell didn’t take the time to get the visual right. the build up should be behind the knot not in front of it.
This is republican bull shit! Biden has nothing to do with the price, but the republicans will jump on anything they think they can get the voters to believe!
Inflation and supply problems are a direct result of the pandemic. Had El Dumpo stomped out the virus when it was just in Washington state and a cruise liner, we’d have no problems now. But, now we have these problems, 750,000 dead and the virus is still not abated. Luckily, we have a president, Joe Biden, who is working tirelessly to rid us of all these problems, not sitting on his ass or playing golf like your man, ’45 did for four years. To really get ahead of this thing, Biden needs his congress with more senators and representatives to really get this nation trucking again.
Amazing how short-sighted republicans are… and how depressed. The only time they’re “happy” is when they’re blaming others for the problems they have initiated and/or threatening those who won’t fall into line be they R or D.
Your thought process is like your cartoon, bass-ackwards. No President controls gasoline supplies or prices, corporations control the supply and consumers the demand. You remember capitalism, right?
“one of the reasons gas prices are so high, is because America is making less gas than it did before the pandemic, because people may be driving again, but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy for gas producers to just instantly produce as much as they were before. and it makes sense that it’s going to take them some time to adjust, I mean it’s been hard for all of us to get back to normal life after the pandemic.”
Electric vehicles are the future. My friend hasn’t bought gas in three years. No oil changes and no radiator. I plan on following his example in the spring.
“Conservatives” are quick to insist on the (truth) that the president of the US has no control over the price of gasoline—at least when the president happens to be a Publican. As a rule, they are also far too happy to “blame” the president if he happens to be a Democrat. Gorrell is comfortably in that cohort. (And as a corollary, when the price of gas happens to be low, as it was during the first several months of Biden’s administration, no credit is given.)
So Goofy Gorrell thinks Biden affected the price of gas around the world, eh?
The problem is global. Gas prices here on post: $3.49/gal. Gas prices on the local economy $5.95/gal.
Other Countries:
USD
South Korea $5.95
Japan $5.53
Germany Frankfurt $5.57
France Paris $5.54
Portugal Lisbon $5.35
Hungary Budapest $4.94
I guess if you want to find cheaper gas, you can always go to one of these places:
Saudi Arabia Riyadh $0.91
Kuwait Kuwait City $0.78
Egypt Cairo $0.65
The thing is, during the pandemic, people stopped traveling, and the price of oil plummeted. Oil companies stopped drilling and laid off people to preserve profits. When people got vaccinated and started traveling again, the oil companies have to gear up to start producing again,. It’s not like flipping a light switch.
“The U.S. oil and gas industry has lost 107,000 jobs during the coronavirus pandemic, and most of these jobs may take years to return, according to a new report.”
Again, there is no evidence this administration cut fuel supplies. I watched gas prices go up to $3.33 on Veterans Day then dropped to $3.07 the following Monday. Increased demand does drive up prices but the supply has to do with corporate incompetence and not government intervention.
This doesn’t even make sense. Does Gorrell think that you fill a gas pump via the dispenser? Also: the price of crude oil has gone up as demand has risen but OPEC refuses to increase production. Why should the price of refined gasoline not do the same?

Gorrell demonstrates that his knowledge of how pressure works in a physical sense is equal to his Trump Disciple analysis skills.
I guess he is somehow trying to link Biden to higher gas prices because of lower supply, but his analogy also fails.

Gorrell has no idea how gasoline works.
Oil companies are keeping prices high by slowing production.
They miss their Trump tax breaks.

Gorrell copy/pasted a google image search of a gas pump handle:
http://www.mcarder.com/docs/products/automatic_gas_nozzles/5-star_gasoline_nozzle.cfm
the knot kinda looks like the one from this stock photo:

as @cessna172 and @braindead pointed out, Gorrell didn’t take the time to get the visual right. the build up should be behind the knot not in front of it.

The only control Biden has of gas prices is the tax he applies to it.. but don’t let that little detail stop you from blaming Joe.
