Well the RW believe that Biden is the most powerful president ever, he has single handedly controlled world trade. Maybe they want to go back to a closed economy, it was a lot more fun.
Because more jobs and investment that result in a smoother-running, more efficient system couldn’t possibly have beneficial economic and social effects.
When I first got married, I spent $16 a week for groceries for two. Two years ago, it cost me about $70 for one. Last week I went to the supermarket and bought a few fresh vegetables, three apples, a pint of blueberries and three TV dinners. $79 bucks. Now a full week’s groceries costs me almost $200! And I don’t even live in a big city!
What has government spending got to do with inflation, especially since this is a global problem at this point? I thought these RW people were convinced that the free market without government “interference” was the only way to go. Just what do they want the government to do about prices set by privately owned companies under the supply and demand principle?
Ever notice on the cartoon itself it shows only month/year and not the day? Can draw up a bunch in advance of the same old conservative rallying cry and then throw a dart at the wall.
Context matters. A growing economy will almost always have some level of corresponding inflation. Also, as pointed out, this is a world wide issue. To think the US would not be impacted is simply a failure to understand how the world economy functions.
Impact matters too: in any economic circumstances there will be “winners” and “losers”. If wages are increasing (which seems to be happening as businesses seek workers), then if you have long term debt, you’re a winner!!! You now have more money in your pay check to pay off that debt. If you’re on a fixed income, you’ll be impacted more negatively (the reason for the recent increase in Social Security payments?)
History also matters. We have been in a historic lull in inflation.
Sigh. Let’s go round-n-round again, shall we? Those on the Left will routinely argue that Government spending has nothing to do with inflation. Those on the Right, myself included, will routinely argue that anytime the Government pumps large sums into the economic equation – through law or by printing – it invites inflation, and that inflation, once under way, tends to continue and accelerate. So, this post of mine is de facto a voice crying in the wilderness, as it will change no one’s preset goggles…
Actually, the infrastructure bill will have the opposite effect. The rich will have their temper tantrum at having to pay a little more or maybe just an actual little bit in tax like us commoners, but eventually, they will settle down and so will inflation.
As for me, I won’t be bullied by cry baby billionaires and millionaires that think only workers should pay taxes, when they actually reap the most benefit from taxes.
Anyone that pays household Bills knows prices are out of hand. Biden’s fault or not it happened on his watch. His Handlers don’t know what to do except print more Money. I gotta get into the Wheelbarrow Biz seem they will be needed to take cash to buy Food.
I wish people like Martens would pay attention to world affairs before making dopey comments. When the gov’t prints up trillions of dollars, and those dollars are chasing fewer goods, you get inflation. Too bad #FJB fell asleep in economics class, like he did in Europe, embarrassing the whole country. And Kamala using the fake French accent. We look like total losers with these 2 in charge.

Golly, everyone knows that the only cure for inflation is tax cuts for the rich.
If only Biden would propose tax cuts, he’d get overwhelming support from the Republican Party of Trump.
