A McFadden & Lusk study (2015) explains why people are irrationally afraid. The reasons include: misinterpreting information, illusionary correlations, selectively scrutinizing information, information-processing problems, political affiliation, and cognitive function.

I don’t have kids age 5-11 these days – they’re all over 20 now. I’m glad I don’t have to deal with the mask/vax issue for kids, though. I doubt I’d want my kid getting the shot approved for emergency use. Maybe when it’s been around a while and studied more. But unless my kid has some underlying health issue(s) that makes them more vulnerable to the consequences of the virus, I don’t see the need. Not when out of 28 million kids age 5-11 in the US, there have been 94 covid deaths among that group. Many of them likely had other health issues. The data certainly doesn’t justify a mandate. Leave it up to the parents.

While deaths of young children are rare, they are not unheard of and the number of COVID cases in children under 12 years of age is not small.

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/01/us/us-covid-kids-data/index.html

But let’s set that aside for a second and ask a really simply question – Why would you not give your children an immunization that’s been proven in adults and teenagers, adjusted in dosage for younger children, and is low risk instead of taking the chance of them getting COVID, long-COVID, or one of the other variants which at best will sicken them, if not give them potentially life long effects, or even kill them?

Now imagine yourself as the parent of one of the dead children or one now dealing with the effects of long-COVID for potentially the rest of your young child’s life.

Get the kids the vaccine. Just get it done. Put the odds in your kids favor.

Nice. The only reason I care about Anti-Vaxxers seeing the light is because their refusal to get vaccinated is bringing down the average for the rest of us. I have no personal sympathy whatsoever.

All the BS religious exemptions are being seen as they are BS. Why you ask? Because they would have to give up pretty much all medication for their excuse to be religious. Pretty sure most aren’t going to wan to give up aspirin, acetaminophen, Pepno Bismol and so many other commonly used medications.

    https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/news/20210918/some-medications-also-tied-to-religious-vaccine-exemption

Stop buying fake cards. Grow up. Get vaccinated. Live healthier. More importantly, stop being stupid.

    In the US, yes.

In much of Europe, however, they’re restricting the Moderna vaccine for those under 30 because of reports that younger individuals who got the vaccine are developing a severe heart condition.

This raises the question of if going full-speed ahead on vaccinating kids here is such a good idea.

Most of the people who are against COVID vaccinations for children cite “personal choice” or “government overreach”, but fail to consider that every unvaccinated person is another potential COVID petri dish that can spread the virus and allow it to mutate.

The statistics essentially guarantee that more kids will die from the vaccine than will die from Covid.

Even Snopes is telling us there are about 5000 vaccine related deaths between Jan 1 and mid July. Vaers is reporting more than 17,000

The CDC tells us there are 470 Covid deaths between ages 5-18 since 1-1-20. Most of those are teens. Hospitalizations of under 18 is a tiny fraction and under age 10 is almost nonexistent.

Do the math. It is a very simple risk analysis. Is it an intelligent choice to vaccinate your 5 year old?

^ Quoting VAERS as saying there are 17,000 vaccine-related deaths tells me all I need to know about how wrong this post is.

Everyone is free to be dumb. It’s unfortunate that so many choose to exercise this right.

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/adverse-events.html

"""Reports of adverse events to VAERS following vaccination, including deaths, do not necessarily mean that a vaccine caused a health problem. A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records, has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines. However, recent reports indicate a plausible causal relationship between the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine and TTS, a rare and serious adverse event—blood clots with low platelets—which has caused deaths """

From the linked file, it seems that """Cases include 5 deaths related to complications from TTS following Janssen COVID-19 vaccination""".

    https://wonder.cdc.gov/vaers.html#:~:text=The%20Vaccine%20Adverse%20Event%20Reporting%20System%20(VAERS)%20database%20contains%20information,.vaers.hhs.gov

"""The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database contains information on unverified reports of adverse events (illnesses, health problems and/or symptoms) following immunization with US-licensed vaccines. Reports are accepted from anyone and can be submitted electronically at www.vaers.hhs.gov."""

unverified reports … accepted from anyone.

Nobody should do math on unverified data.

Geraldo eviscerated his colleagues one of them Sean Hannity at FOX news calling out their hypocrisy for telling Americans to exercise their personal freedoms and refuse to be vaccinated while they themselves are fully vaxxed.

As someone with two grand nephews and one grand niece (and another on the way), and have a couple who I dog sit for with an adopted daughter who started First Grade last September (and got her Covid shot last week), I have come to believe that kids have dealt with this way better than a lot of grownups have. This is why we need to teach elementary and high school age kids critical thinking so they can identify and resist social media misinformation. The hard core anti vaxxers and the remaining holdouts (like Aaron Rodgers) will either get vaxxed or get sick (or see their friends and family members getting sick). But I have always believed that reason eventually penetrates all but the thickest of skulls.

So if children should be vaxxed, then Lalo would be in favor of vaxxing all aliens entering the country illegally, after all, that would be the smart and prudent thing to do. It would greatly prevent them from spreading COVID 19 over here, and if they fell ill, it would help mitigate their symptoms and keep them out of the hospital, RIGHT LALO? LALO? Hello LALO!
