Why is it so hard for Gorrell to just tell his audience to get vaccinated already? What is the point of this cartoon? it’s just going to give people who have been fed disinformation more excuses not to get vaccinated and not to wear masks in public places.

if you think the guidance is unclear, you have a platform to help clarify it. But instead you choose to further erode people’s trust in experts.

The guidance changes as scientists collect more data, a lot of it changed based on how the delta variant spread much faster, but also because no one predicted the right wing media would be willing to talk their viewers and listeners into dying to make Joe Biden look bad. The booster is needed now because so many people have refused to get vaccinated due to disinformation coming from the right.

Someone is going to use this cartoon’s talking point to argue against someone pleading with them to get vaccinated. They are going decide that they don’t need to wear a mask in public spaces. They may get sick. They may spread the virus to others who may get sick. They may need to be hospitalized in a full ICU, taking a bed away from someone with a non-coved emergency. They may end up dying, or someone that they infected may end up dying.

I had 3 friends get Covid after being fully vaccinated. None went to the hospital and they survived nicely with short side effects. 1 was 75 and 1 was 76. That’s a good enough reason to get the vaccine for me.

According to the latest statistics, Covid rates are trending downward in 23 states (and DC) and people (at least where I live) are judging their own risk factors for Covid. I keep my face mask in my pocket when I go out (and rotate them and put them in my laundry) and put it one when I have to go into a store or my bank. And I have gone back into the movie theaters on occasion. I am hopeful that the Delta variant is indeed receding and that Covid rates continue to trend downward during the Fall and Winter of 2021/22. If that comes to pass, we should be OK. God willing, this will be the last major speedbump on the road to normalcy.
