You can thank the Great Divider, Donald (now that’s a name that has taken on disfavor) Trump for politicizing everything from public health to military service (suckers and losers) and setting one group of Americans against the others.
Ignorance, fear, hate are the dark side of the Force and the Republicans use them very well in the war that they declared on Democracy.
Would agreement on everything be better? Wouldn’t accepting that there are other points of view and not personalizing opposition be more productive? Isn’t it better to “jaw-jaw than to war-war” (Churchill)? Should we recognize that people have argued about things forever and most of our current arguments will be forgotten 100 years from now just as we’ve mostly forgotten theirs? Asking for a friend.
Nope. This year I have backed away from too much politics and news and even disturbing documentaries. I’m going back to watching Non Non Biyori and another binge of Laid Back Camp and even Kiyo in Kyoto. Comfort food for the mind and taste buds. My blood pressure is down and my IDGAF is up. Besides, it’s time to walk the dogs, feed the chooks, gather eggs, give the horse a brush and some morning carrots, feed the cats and make tea. And answer email and stuff. And I hear the Mrs calling from the bedroom for some “personal attention.”

I would be surprised (but not disbelieving) if more than 10% or so of US yoga practitioners lean right. So to speak.

I worked at a parochial school that would not allow any yoga. A few extremely conservative parents called yoga an entry way to satanism. Yeah.

Well, it does start with clearing the mind, and of course we all know nature abhors a vacuum.
