It’s disgusting how too many people want to perform “Saving Private Ryan” over and over with other people’s sons and daughters.

The evacuation of people out of Afghanistan was an incredible and unparalleled achievement.

People will still be able to leave Afghanistan, at least at the present. Most of the Americans that stayed, stayed of their own accord.

Biden’s administration has been warning Americans to leave since March. Why so many waited until the last minute is beyond me. Although, it is possible some who were married to Afghans were having visa problems caused by Trump’s derailing the visa program last year. In an apparent Republican attempt to not let any Afghan allies have the ability to leave Afghanistan for safety.

When the former guy left the Kurds high and dry in North Syria the rethuglicans didn’t make a peep. All one could hear was the sound of crickets. The right winged media and radio stations ignored the atrocity. The sound of wind and tumble weeds rolling across the plains was the reaction of Fox Noise and their talking heads. There wasn’t any outrage, which was an outrage in itself. The hypocrisy is deafening. “It’s OK if a Republican does it” is shown to all, time and time again.

I think about 20 million wanted out, way more than want out of Texas, but they had more to start with.

G S Pony’s right. Saying ‘’just get out’’ won’t make it so.

Consider, Canada has just reopened her U.S. border.

Imagine the mess, trying to move, in other parts of the world.

It is said that life is what happens when you are making plans. I think this situation proves that statement.

Dual citizen Americans knew since March that Aug 31 deadline was coming. Like waiting to the last minute to evacuate a pending hurricane, decisions have consequences. Tens of thousands evacuated is still a tremendous feat though execution was ugly.

I spent the last 4 years putting up with people who thot that Donald J. Trump could do no wrong, no matter how badly he screwed up, but I figured that at least the people on my side of the political fence would call a spade a spade and be willing to criticize one of their own for bungling something. And I see that I was right in the case of Rob Rogers but not so much as regards a few of the commenters above.

There are people who adhere slavishly to “My country, right or wrong” and others who morph it into “My party, right or wrong”, but they both forget the origin of the expression: “My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.” —Carl Schurz (1829-1906) Civil War general, Senator from Missouri, Secretary of the Interior

We must remember congress did not pass a law that Americans had to leave, therefore some hesitated until it was too late.

Yup, we could have done a better job. Of course the GOP jumped on the chance to find fault with Biden. They might consider who occupied the White House when we left Vietnam.

And the extreme right (but never correct) wing aggressively ignores how Trump returned 5,000 obstacles to any withdrawal attempt.
