Maybe Rita should go back to her water bottle. The sarsaparilla seems to be giving her weird ideas.

I take it that Ed is in charge of the coffee club?

We showed ourselves to be “furriners” several years ago in France. We’d buy an expresso find a bench and take our time. Locals? Slug it down and done in half a minute! And on their way.

I couldn’t work with music on. I’d start getting into the songs and forget what I was doing.

The first place I worked had a communal coffee machine for the Group. One package of coffee and one pitcher of water gave one pitcher of coffee. Nobody ever asked for decaf. One could only get that from the vending machine in another building.

Looks like the sarsaparilla is a valid substitute for coffee.

On the bright side… no one can say that they don’t get enough sleep.

When I worked at Wal-Mart, the employees on the sales floor could go to the break room whenever they wanted to get coffee, no cost. Those of us who didn’t drink coffee had to pay for our soda/tea/water. and had to wait for our scheduled break time.

In one office where I worked, first thing in the morning someone refilled the empty communal instant coffee jar with decaf coffee. By lunch time the place was in uproar, with most of the staff snapping at each other and swearing and getting angry. Nobody got any work done. I used to take in a flask of coffee so was not affected. It was interesting to watch the effect; caffeine withdrawal really is a thing.

At lunchtime the person who had topped up the coffee went out and bought some proper instant coffee, came back and announced what they had done, totally unaware of the chaos they had caused. I thought they’d get lynched! Within 20 minutes everyone was back to normal, calmed down and working.

No wonder there are so many coffee chains, and no wonder they call them ‘chains’!
