Many decades ago, that cap was a frequently seen topper. Seems it faded to use only for golfers, at horse tracks, and a couple of other occasions as ‘sporty headgear’. Occasionally seen nowadays but definitely not for every guy.
alas, I had to put my favorite hat of the last 6 years to rest last week. it fell apart as I hand-washed it. it had survived dog chews, freezing in the snow. baking in the sun. golfing many a round. but it finally succumbed to rain and sweat and old age. rip
I bought my Dad a couple of Irish wool caps when I lived there in the late ’60s. He loved them and wore them all the time.
When he died in ’93, I inherited them and often wore them in his memory.
I still have one and wear it on occasion. It is in remarkably good shape for a 54-year-old cap. It is still waterproof and the wool colors almost as sharp as when I bought it for him.

My wife threatens to do the same thing to mine! Guess she’s just not a hat person…

And another thing. I’m tired of my t-shirts smelling like Pledge.

To make that work you need to walk it out to the garbage truck when they are doing a pick-up.
