1) Accept that there is anything they can be taught- they already know everything2) Have a definition of “us” that includes people different than they are.

The modern politician stands for getting re-elected and little else. Honesty is an entry in the dictionary and little else to most politicians. Both Dems and Reps have earned the sobriquet. They represent us when it is convenient otherwise they suck at the teat of the party leaders as this earns them $$ and support which buys votes from those too lazy to know the issues. Time for term limits!!!!

I thought the point of the story was that the Samaritans hated the Jewish people, and the reason this one was “good” was because he stopped to help a Jew who was beaten and left for dead. Otherwise, the ones who didn’t care were just plain Samaritans

If we aren’t here for each other, then what are we here for? Selfishness is a very lonely place.

I have known a lot of christians. There are missionaries in my family. I have worked with a lot of christians. I can count on one hand the ones I have known that tried to live a decent, just life. They would have been good people, whatever their religion. Just a note, missionaries should not be shot. They should be hanged.

The big churches went to New Guinea to do good and they did very very well indeed – FINANCIALLY.It annoyed me immensely from 2000 to 2011 to see local Fathers and Brothers eating and drinking at the most expensive hotel in Madang and drinking wine that cost PGK180/bottle when the average FAMILY income on the Rai Coast (less than 20miles/30km east) was UNDER PGK100/year. PGK100 was worth about USD40 on a good day.Fortunately there were missionaries from a couple small churches that actually did good for the local population like the local AOG missionary who taught the locals how to make soap from coconuts – the best soap I have ever used – and other things that really benefited their health so I know that not all god botherers are scum. Just 99%.
