What if Nate had recently found a secret good luck charm that he hasn’t shown yet and that’s why Godfrey is leaving.

I think the catch might be on friday or saturday.

Why taunt the eight graders? It’s likely they also had Ms. Godfrey when they were in Nate’s and his pals’ grade.

I’m going to be honest: I’m not looking forward to whatever twist is coming. I like seeing Nate happy.

Let’s face it: there ‘s only three ways this will end:

1) Mrs. Godfrey’s “promotion” is cancelled at the last minute, and she ends up back as Nate’s teacher,

2) Nate somehow ends up in the eighth grade, or

3) Nate ends up with an even worse teacher than Mrs. G.

Well…I guess there’s always the incredibly lazy “Bobby Ewing Dallas” ending, where Nate is dreaming…

The twist has to come. It’s way too predictable, unless…

Many years ago when in school, I seemed to have a teacher follow me as I progressed through my school years. I had him as a teacher in 6th grade, 8th grade and 10th grade. As teachers go, Mr. Denton was one of the better teachers I had growing up.

But who’s the 6th grade teacher going to be now?

The letter never said that she would stop teaching 6th grade…………………….

My guess is Mrs. Godfrey is a lot happier about the move than Nate.

Nate is aware that SOME day he will be in the eight grade, right?….

Of course, this time of year Nate goes through his annual loop of entering the 6th grade again… but I am confused. Does the fact that he is rejoicing that Mrs. Godfrey is moving to the 8th grade indicate that he is accepting the time loop he is in, or did he have her last year, when he would have been in the 5th grade, or had he heard about her, or what? This just reflects the “suspension of disbelief” aspect of the Nate strip… a kid (and his friends) trapped in a the 6th grade time warp.

Yeah I doubt Mrs.Godfrey is leaving, unless the strip is ending, which is a possibility, but still, I think she’ll just end up still teaching 6th somehow

There’s going to be a catch. There HAS to be a catch. The new teacher will be worse and Nate will BEG to have Mrs. Godfrey back. That’s my guess.

Hello, I am Montgomery Burns. This is day 2 of the hiring for a new Smithers. Message me if you want to do the job. It is a big job, or 2000 small jobs, I can do 1999 of them, you have to do 1, answer calls from my mother.

Also, in another comic strip where Nate thought Mrs. Godfrey was moving Francis actually was sad to see her go. According to him, “she was a good teacher”. So why does Francis suddenly feel different about Mrs. Godfrey?

….I still see this going bust by the first day of school, and the sound of air escaping from the abruptly deflated balloon will sound not unlike what Stephen King once described (in his book “Cujp”…) as " a large, foul-smelling flatulence"………..

Nate and his pals will be repeating 6th grade for the 30th year or so. The way time “works” in this strip, Nate will never see her again inside his classroom. If time worked like the rest of the universe then Nate would now have two years to dread seeing her again. Unless he repeats 6th grade again.

The catch is coming pretty soon I can feel it

When I was in middle school, I celebrated at the end of every year because I’d no longer have to deal with one particular teacher.

At the beginning of every year, I discovered she was moving up to stay with my class.

I am willing to bet money that she will end up teaching Nate, considering all the cliches in the strip about Nate happines
