That’s because conservatives today are only driven by hate-filled ideas. If there’s no children dying in cages, then that idea is too “liberal”.

How about starting with the corporations who hire them as cheap labor like Drumpf? Then back to stabilizing Central America instead of trying to overthrow governments for the corporations, like Reagan?

Just think if the U.S. had been unwelcoming when your ancestors migrated here from Europe.

Right Michael, say this to the around 11 million immigrants who’ve been here for 30 years or more, got stuck in a broken system, many of them because they were too young to know better, listen to the wrong people, or did it the wrong way because no one told them there was a better way, are paying a heavy price by not being able to see loved ones for many years at the time, many of them go through the heartache to loose their parents without being able to go back to pay their last respects and say a final goodbye; and yet, politicians use them as pawns instead of real human beings for their own personal political goals by obstructing a comprehensive immigration reform over and over, etc, etc… you call that welcoming?!!! I don’t think you understand what people is really going through! People make mistakes, but I think a good many deserve the decency to have a second chance for a better life.

The welcome mat is provided by businesses that hire illegal immigrants. There is a loophole in the law, naturally. Big business does not hire directly, they pay contractors to do the hiring. When the law goes after the contractors, they just disappear.

The mat has only half the message:

“Welcome desperate Human Resources who will work low wage jobs and pay taxes.”

You can blame Joe’s problem right back to trump.. Had trump not been so squeamish this problem would have been averted. Being as trump was above the law.. has no moral values.. thus anything goes. He should have had all those nasty refugees shot.. shot dead.. on the Mexican side so our proud boys would not have to clean up the mess. Like shooting gophers this would have been so much fun, definitely would have made recruitment easier. AND.. because Mexico would be dealing with all those messy, smelly, maggot filled dead bodies, would have clamped down on those “coyotes” encouraging those refugees into Mexico in the first place. S/.. if it weren’t obvious

Awful curious on how the Democrats are so anti border walls in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, but haven’t torn down that horrible border wall in California. Why is that?

We need more of that vicious razor wire, and hot metal fencing you can’t touch without burning yourself and drones with guns, at the border like Trump wanted. /s

No actual welcome mat at the southern border, but there is a beaconing statue in New York Harbor that GQPs want to tear down…

I like the idea of addressing the root causes. Just in case I might have missed it, where, exactly, is the detailed plan to accomplish this? Just curious.

It’s amazing to so many Americans that desperate people will brave death, kidnapping, terrible hardships and then deportation and still want to come here. It’s not amazing to me.

Again, we don’t have an illegal immigration problem. We have an illegal hiring problem.

Stiff penalties on those that predator hire undocumented immigrants at substandard wages would do a lot to curb those that come, or as in most cases, stay in the country illegally.

There seems to be a lot of people wanting illegal immigrants to enter this country, probably for the wrong reason, that reason being misplaced guilt. They feel guilty because they are living the good life in America and it makes them feel better to let everyone in to share in there good fortune. To bad they don’t realize that the more illegal unskilled, poor and needy people that enter the poorer this country becomes. Not to mention criminals of all type, terrorists, drug addicts etc. Wake up people, future generations are going to suffer because of your misplaced guilt and sympathy.

But the bigly beautiful wall with an alligator filled moat solved that problem. Just like Jared solved the Palestinian problem.

There is no comparison to the 17-1800s. Modern nations all over the world regulate migration numbers for many reasons.

    WHAT “welcome mat”?

Though I guess, to Ramirez, the absence of unfriendly fire, tear gas and trucks with loudspeakers might count as “welcome”. What I think: We’re acting more or less humanitarian… something that the rong-wing types see as anathema unless it’s directed toward white folks who “belong” here.

There. Is. No. Welcome. Mat. Harris explained she felt the focus on the border missed the point. “We cannot be simplistic and assume that there is only one element or way of approaching the overall problem,” she said.

It would be very easy “to just say we’ll travel to one place and therefore it’s solved,” Harris said. “I don’t think anybody thinks that that would be the solution.” The USA has been seeing an increase in overall encounters at the border since April of 2020. Not a new thing at all.

Potential immigrants back then had physical (Covid?) and mental exams, criminals were xcluded, and potential skills etc. were needed for LEGAL entry. Now it’s just an illegal Dem. voter drive.

Mexico should built a wall around Texas; Colorado; Nevada; California. What they’re Spanish names.
