You know, given Trump’s inability to tread carefully when it came to dealing with North Korea, I’m quite thankful and surprised we’re not in a Hot War right now…

Unlike some we could name, Biden isn’t bound up in “personal relationships”. Biden and Putin knew going in that they weren’t going to agree on substantive issues, though they both took the opportunity to say some things for press and home consumption. But they are also both quite good† at their jobs, and they DID put some things into discussion (or continued existing ones) that are beneficial to both countries.

As for a “cold war”… I suspect that it’s already as warlike as it will get. Mostly in the cyber-realm, and mostly using proxies… or at least groups that aren’t clearly tied to the governments.
