WOW. Wanting to make sure more people can vote when there are already so many obstacles to voting and zero evidence of significant vote fraud is a “power grab”. That’s a confession that you don’t think your side can win a free election, and also that your side has been rigging it for a long time.
apparently the democrats did try and sneak in some provisions that would harm the green party, totally unnecessary for the stated aims of the legislation
This toon does bring to mind Giuliani claiming “voter fraud” when he file a lawsuit against the election outcome. He kept claiming “voter fraud” up to the door to the courthouse. When the judge asked him if he was claiming “voter fraud” he said “No.”
Given that HR1 is a way to get more Americans to participate in Democracy and self-governance, it’s a “power grab” akin to the “power grab” that the patriots undertook in 1776.
Allowing all of-age citizens to vote, and making it more convenient for them, is a power grab? Only when the opposition admits that it cannot win elections that are free and fair…
Of course the nasty anti democracy minority republicans are making all kinds of laws to inhibit dems and people of color from voting because they lost in the last election.
Y’know, if the GQP would just roll up their sleeves and do some actual forward-progress type work with the Democrats, then it wouldn’t be a “partisan” bill. And if they were actually interested in allowing people to vote at all, then HR1 wouldn’t be a “power grab”.
But of course, if they were upholding their oath of office, dealing fairly, or even acting moderately honest, they wouldn’t be representing the GQP.
I mean nothing says partisan more than a bill that protects voting rights of citizens and addresses the financial corruption in our elections. GOP don’t even want to debate about it; they just want their state legislatures continue to push the Big Lie and pass suppression laws.
The problem is most Democrats and Republican all tell you what you want to hear tell you just enough of the truth to make it sound real and we all believe what we want to believe we are on here or over here problem is we’re all wrong
By Lisa-the-Shill’s lights, HR1’s support by the overwhelming preponderance of the millions and millions of “Us, the People” is “partisan” and must be hamstrung and shackled by the minority support of Miserly Moscow Mitch and the GOP Leadershit who relentless heed ONLY ONE very, very important constituent: THE MONEY of the 1% and the Corpocracy—HUMANS BE DAMNED!

The people support the Dems. Therefore, giving power to the people will empower the Democratic Party. I think that’s what Ms. Benson is trying to say.

That box better represents the test Republicans would force registered Democrats to pass before they would be allowed to vote:
“Grab a wire and if you survive, you MIGHT be permitted to vote.”
