Great memories, I had @ least a dozen model airplanes hanging from my ceiling. Screw eye and fishing line. That was the rage for young boys. B-29, B-24, Mustang, Spitfire & the P-51. The Battle of Britain right over my head. That was cool stuff my friends.
I remember my first trip to the Smithsonian Museum of Air and Space. “That looks like the Spirit of St. Louis hanging up there.” “It is.” And a DC-3 and the Wright Flyer and an X-15. And I thought I had my ceiling full of models, these were the real things!

Like Teto I too went to the Smithsonian MoAS. I was only a kid but it was jaw-dropping. And that was before July 1969.
