Mansplaining warning: Sixty years ago I had two uncles who owned home movie equipment. One of them had my brothers and I reenact the OK Coral and put it on film. Campy. Over the years we went from film to video tape (in many different sizes and formats), to digital (in even more choices), until finally today where cameras are on every phone. Somehow the whole capturing of slices of life is no longer really special.
Mom & Dad had about a gazillion slides from way back. Mom had them converted to electronic images. Less than 100 were able to be converted. The film had faded so much in all the years that an image was no longer able to be seen. It’s fun looking at the old pics and seeing me as a 1-5 yo. What’s even more fun, is seeing the “old” people when they were very young and alive! Almost all have passed. The very few remaining are older than dirt and not very mobile. Their memories have faded and they don’t remember the people in the pictures. Too bad. I’m sure there are wonderful stories.
I have been scanning all our favorite photos and putting them into a folder that I use as a background slideshow. So whenever the desktop is visible we can see a memory. And sometimes we just watch the slideshow on monitor 2, which is our TV
I scanned in all of our family photos, over 40 years worth about 10 thousand. I also identified them as to date and where. I have them on our tv screen saver. When the kids come over they ( they are grown with families) and they ask me to put them on. We sit and watch and talk about them. Best thing I ever did!

One of my friends ‘hacked’ his Mom’s digital photo frame and put some pic’s of his sister dressing on it. It disappeared soon after.
