Some of us are ready to go back to that. Most of us, I suspect are ready to go part way back to a more controlled engagement. And a few have now discovered that they were meant to be hermits.
Bottom line: “(all the way) back to normal” isn’t something that I or, I think, most of us actually want.
Uh… how about “No”. It decreases the odds of getting the disease and of serious long term effects if you do get it. But CDC guidelines are clear. You’re still supposed to minimize unnecessary contact, use PPE routinely, maintain distance, and limit your new bubble to vaccinated people.
I am pissed off with the mainstream media right now. In an attempt to boost ratings, they have borrowed a tactic from the far-right media: fear and sensationalism.
Let’s dwell on “breakout infections” and one-in-a-million reactions to scare people from getting the vaccine.
Your choices are simple: don’t take the vaccine and contribute to prolonging the pandemic while increasing the odd that you will catch the disease and greatly increase the odds that you will be hospitalized and wind up on a ventilator and put you in to a prime position to be come one more death
OR
Take the vaccine and perhaps be the one in a million that has a negative reaction.
1 in a million shot that it’s a bad thing. 999,999 in a million chance that it’s a good thing. I know where I’m placing my bet.
I’m guessing that the divide will be between spreaders and non-spreaders … die-hard, radical, caution-to-the-winds, anti-vaxxers vs conservative, let’s-wait-and-see, self-respecting thinkers.
Like most cures, it offers a choice: return to what you were doing, including situations that might have been frustrating, or continue with your revised life style and try for happier overall. An objective look at both possibilities would be a good start.
I like working from home. I will probably go into a hybrid situation, 1 or 2 days in the office, and Zoom the rest of the week. As an introvert, I like it.
Maxine Waters tells Jim Jordan to ‘shut his mouth’ in heated exchange with Dr Fauci
Outspoken Republican Jim Jordan entered into a heated exchange with Dr Anthony Fauci on the House floor about Covid-19 restrictions, and it resulted in Democrat Maxine Waters telling the congressman to “shut his mouth.”
During a House subcommittee hearing about the federal government’s response to the pandemic, Mr Jordan asked the infectious disease expert when Americans could expect a relaxation to physical-distancing and mask-wearing guidance.
Specifically, the Ohio conservative wanted to know when Americans could get their “liberty and freedom” back.
“You’re indicating liberty and freedom. I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to hospital,” Dr Fauci said, adding that vaccinations would help bring life back to normal.
Mr Jordan criticised Dr Fauci for continuing to share the message of wearing a mask and social distancing more than one year into the pandemic, but the infectious disease expert said that wouldn’t change unless more Americans received a vaccine.
“My message, Congressman Jordan, is to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as we possibly can to get the level of infection in this country low so that it is no longer a threat,” Dr Fauci said.
The answer did not satisfy Mr Jordan, who wanted to know what would be a “low enough” infection number to bring the country back to normal. “What is low enough, give me a number?” Mr Jordan yelled.
Rotten lying deadly stupid republicans spread covid everywhere and shut down the country and refuse to wear masks and get shots and demand the country reopen.
Republicans are nothing but murderous hypocrites and bullies.

Actually, my wife and I resemble that remark. We joke … only to each other, of course … that we are co-hermits.
