The only catch is, grade schools don’t archive their students’ papers for reference – they usually end up in the trash by the end of the school year.

It’s possible Dexter was held back (is that even something that happens anymore?) and he’s got the same teacher.

College profs have essays submitted in paper and on line. Online version is submitted to a software that finds how much of a paper is copied. Doesn’t have to be the whole thing.

All of those papers that were so badly written that they make instructors examine early retirement have been immortalized in the Intertubes somewhere. They seem to be the first results for web searches.

My daughter recycled a paper 4 times and got an A each time. Of course, it was typewritten, on a 1930 something Remington portable with fold down keys.

Whenever possible I mitigate criticism by noting that I’ve made the same mistake, and learned from it.

So he’s in what – 5th grade? And he’s using a paper he wrote in 2nd? Oh come on!
