Major League Baseball made a PRIVATE SECTOR BUSINESS DECISION and, boo hoo, Big Government TrumpubliQan politicians think THEY should get a veto on PRIVATE BUSINESS DECISIONS, led by commie-in-chief Mitch McMoscow, who now whines that business should stay out of politics.

This after McMoscow has spent his whole adult life begging for money from corporate donors and who even was a lead plaintiff in one of the lawsuits to overturn the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform.

So Major League Baseball joins the other PRIVATE SECTOR FOR-PROFIT CORPORATIONS whose BUSINESS “FREEDOM” TrumpubliQans want to CANCEL: Dr Seuss Enterprises (for discontinuing new publication of fewer than 10% of its oldest, slow-selling titles), Hasbro (over the gender of a plastic potato), Warner Brothers (Looney Tunes not including one of its characters, Pepe LePew, in a cartoon).

When the way they want to play is racist and un-American, MLB should absolutely go play somewhere else.

And there’s not a thing wrong with this. It is MLB’s choice where to have the All Star “game”. And it is perfectly proper behavior to engage in boycotts to make your opinion known.

I’ve seen folks arguing that this hurts small businesses (often owned by folks of color) more than it hurts Kemp et al. I’ll just point out that the people who elected the slimeballs who voted in the new rules are now suffering the consequences of their (inability) to elect better officials. Too bad, but another obvious natural consequence.

@TPG Please review the Republican stance on elections: “We can’t win another election if elections stay as they are and voter turnout remains high.” (Yes, they have actually eff’n said that! )

Recently, and by no coincidence whatsoever, they come up with new voter laws which are eerily similar to past tactics of voter purging, and other voter suppression tactics. And they don’t even try to solve the problem of voting lines that are too long, instead they make it illegal for people waiting in line to get a drink of water, hoping they’ll just stay home instead.

The new Georgia law has nothing to do with election integrity. The 2020 Presidential race was completely legitimate and secure. (And no, it’s not my job to prove that. It’s already been proved. It’s your job to disprove it if you claim it’s not true.)

The only thing illegal about any recent election in Georgia was the Governor’s race, which Kemp cheated his way into winning. And that’s the bottom line. Republicans can’t win without cheating, so they pass laws to cheat voters out of their right to vote. They hope that if they make it as hard as possible, fewer people will turn out, and that’s the only way they can win.

Doesn’t it bother you that your “party”, if you can even call it that (since they no longer have any platform to speak of), has completely given up trying to appeal to voters and has simply decided to take the lowest and most anti-American road possible?

Wouldn’t you rather support a part about which you can say “My party is awesome, they have great ideas, they’re going to do great things, and I truly believe that if we can get this message out there, more people will vote for my party than any other”?

Why do you stick with a party that is fundamentally against elections?

What color is that Atlanta kid meant to be? He looks green… Kelly doesn’t dare draw a black kid? This isn’t about Georgia, it’s all about the GOP trying to rig the elections.

MLB is a private business.

The State Government of Georgia is a Government.

I get a huge kick out of watching Republicans attack private corporations for freely making their own business decision – because a GOVERNMENT doesn’t want them to.

Why not have a system that automatically registers everyone who is eligible to vote? Why not have voting on a weekend? Or make election day a holiday? Why not have lots and lots of community polling places so no one has to go more than a few blocks to vote? Why not allow voting by mail? I get the impression that some people don’t really believe in democracy.

And that is completely their right as a private corporation. The government cannot compel them to hold the All Stars Game in Atlanta. Not unless the government seizes the means of production and nationalizes MLB — and I thought the GOP was against communism.

Republicans want to take that baseball away from MLB, and force it to play by Republican rules… after all, businesses should not be allowed to make their own decisions if those decisions don’t jibe with Republican agendas…

Skelley seems to think it unfair that MLB doesn’t want to play its all star game in a state in which the government just passed a law intentionally treating black voters with grotesque unfairness.

They really do have a terrible time keeping the story straight, and it’s pretty obvious that the Publicans are at a loss in how to deal with business and chambers of commerce that disapprove of what the Publicans are up to.

Voter suppression is how Putin stays in office.

I hate it when states try to pass laws requiring proper identification before allowing someone to vote in something as important as a national election!

MLB has every right not to reward states for bad behavior.

Haven’t the Republicans, especially Mitch McTurtle, always played “MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY” rules?
