A number of years ago, we were helping our grandparents downsize their home. When going through the closet, we discovered that my grandfather had at least 75 ties, and at least 40 of them had stains on them. His only comment was, “That’s how you know you had a good meal when you wore it. If it’s not good, you don’t eat as much and you don’t have as much opportunity to spill on your tie!”
I have some cool ties and never have a reason to wear them anymore
Up until not that many years ago it was required to wear them at the grocery store where I worked, some managers even expected night stocking crew to wear them

Well, for the record, I have 2 ties and I still can’t decide which one looks least terrible with whatever I am wearing.
