I’m with Bub on this — especially regarding shopping for clothes. Every year, or so, I binge-shop for clothes. That requires entering an altered state-of-consciousness — almost a dissociative state. I do the actual shopping in a frenzy — like I’m a Viking on a raid — so that I can get it over with as fast as possible, and move on to something more enjoyable. Like a root canal.
I have always felt that (pre-Covid) at Christmas time at the Mall, they should have a Man-only Morning… At either ends, there will be a herd of carts. Every store has an employee showing their wares out front as the herd passes by – Pick what you like Sir.No children, or dawdlers!! If you see something you like, pull over!! No stopping the cart to arrange your thoughts, or pick the nose. Once you are done – perhaps one hour – you get out!! I can dream can’t I?
I don’t mind shopping BUT, now days it means trying to see through fogged up glasses, walking with ify knees, and fearing there will never be another stimulus check.
How long have they been married, not to understand each other about this? My wife and I understood one another about shopping within the first year. Some shopping, such as for groceries, we do together – especially since I’ve retired and do a fair portion of the cooking. She shops with her sister when it’s “pleasure” shopping. When I have personal shopping to do I find out in advance who has what I want. I go there, buy it, and go home.

I’m pretty sure most of the comments are going to fall into either the male or female outlook on this.
I’m with Bub on this one also. If I need something, I want to just get it and get it over with.
With my wife, it’s all about the journey. She can spend hours at it.

I like going shopping with my wife. She knows what she wants and quickly zeros in on it. The we can go to lunch.
