A nation in which significant numbers of citizens still celebrate the cause and memory of a secessionist seditious Confederacy. A nation in which significant numbers of citizens still resent any attempts to correct centuries of economic/social/judicial/political injustice to minorities and slavishly follow “leaders” espousing practices to continue these policies. A nation in which significant numbers of citizens believe it is right and correct to attempt to deprive others of their rights to partipate in the process of democracy by restricting voting. Who can be surprised anymore.

Over 4 years ago tRump started his campaign telling us that without a border we’d have no country. Every time tRump had a failure tRump said we’d have no country. 4+ years of lies and fear peddling and some people still can’t get enough. It is sick.

True statement actually.. but “which” country is the question. trump is under the impression 74 million want his version.. where “he” is king and supreme leader.

I wrote my senators, Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham. Scott replied…….

“As the House of Representatives and Senate deliberated, chaos erupted in both chambers, as hundreds of rioters stormed the Capitol building.

Five Americans died as a result of the tragic violence that day, and it is only thanks to the bravery of the United States Capitol Police that more lives were not lost. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of those Americans who lost their lives, and I am forever grateful to those who put their own lives in danger to defend Congress.

No excuse exists for what happened on January 6th, and I am disgusted by the actions of these rioters, who attacked the very center of our American Government. Now, in the wake of this tragedy, we must come together as an American family, for as a house divided, we cannot stand. We have much to be grateful for in this country, and as we move forward, I hope that we will meet in this moment to ensure a better future.

In short, I do not believe that an impeachment trial will help our country heal. I believe it flies in direct opposition to the central theme of President Biden’s inaugural address: unity. Donald Trump is no longer the President of the United States, and I do not see the mechanism of impeachment as anything more than a cause for more division."

“Five Americans died” that includes rioters…. Officer Sicknick died, 125 Capitol police were assaulted, 70 were injured, protecting Tim and Tim is “disgusted”, but he stands with the man that incited the riot….

Yet the Conservative argument is: when you add the word peaceful before or after that statement, that absolves his real intent of the statement.
