He was essential to the film and did a fine job. It reminds me of the cartoon drawn by Darrell Van Citters when Mel Blanc died, captioned, “Speechless.” It acknowledged the absence of someone important to all the characters. Same thing with Steve’s drawing of Julie Andrews. Well done.

He was my first big girlhood fan crush (until Peter Tork of The Monkees came along). All these years, I carried a bit of a torch for him. RIP.

I have never seen the movie — never been a fan of musicals. I do remember seeing “The Royal Hunt of the Sun” with Plummer and Robert Shaw back in the early 70s. That was a feast.

IMDB shows that he narrated a lot of episodes of “Madeline” over the years.

Musicals, good ones, bring joy to my heart. I don’t care that he hated the role; he was still good in it. Thanks for a touching tribute, Steve.

It’s rather unfortunate that Christopher Plummer is by and large remembered only for “The Sound of Music.” He leaves an impressive body of work besides that single role, although for the life of me, I can’t imagine anyone else portraying Captain Von Trapp.

Let’s not forget that the Klingon Empire just lost General Chang: “You cannot truly appreciate Hamlet until you have heard it in the original Klingon!”

There’s also an urban legend floating around about Julie Andrews losing her singing voice and barely being able to croak. As the old saying has it, “A lie can go twice around the world while the truth is putting on its boots.”

    One a scale of 1 – 10 I’d label this tribute a 3. It’s just lame.

They were running away from the Nazis in the movie.

The republicans now want to be the Nazis.
