If it wasn’t for hatred of all who have not been tea-baggers, Bok would have no life at all.

There is nothing at all wrong with retraining.

Cases in point: I myself had two distinct careers, working for a variety of employers. My wife worked two jobs also, after “retiring” from being a full time wife/mom. Each of us paid for retraining out of our own pockets.

He doesn’t like the idea of working on solar? Not a problem, go to work (re)building highways, bridges, railroads or airports. Don’t want to move from your home? How the HELL did you manage to work on Keystone?

Bok’s grinding the Ridiculous Right’s axe again (still). Of course.

Apparently Chip still hasn’t heard of the Capitol insurrection yet, for which trump will soon be on trial. Odd, it’s almost like he’s trying to deflect.

Chip, did you ever tote up all the coal jobs that came back as Your Messiah promised?

And, when you have some spare time, couldya explain why anyone would want to work in a coal mine, or have their kids work in one?

I guess Baghdad Bok expects people that are not Republicans to travel by dirigible or horse-drawn carriages when they work..

That’s Bok for you. He would rather have a couple of thousand temporary jobs and a couple of dozen permanent jobs, than working towards a goal of tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans training for permanent jobs with a future so that we can stop trailing behind in technology from other first-world nations.

I’ve heard this crap before and still have the same question: IF JK is hypocritical, how does this invalidate what he is saying? In fact because all you can do is an ad hominem attack on Kerry doesn’t that AFFIRM what he is saying about the environment?

Trump from 1990:“I like the challenge and tell the story of the coal miner’s son. The coal miner gets black-lung disease, his son gets it, then his son. If I had been the son of a coal miner I would have left the damn mines. But most people don’t have the imagination—or whatever—to leave their mine. They don’t have ‘it.’” (Playboy, March 1990)

I don’t see any solar panels on that plane.. wonder what makes it work? Do you suppose Kerry is aware just how much pollution each trip he takes creates.

There seem to be several commenters here, and also the cartoonist, who think that because clean energy cannot immediately replace all sources of pollution, it should be abandoned.

Oh, Silly Ole Bill. Don’t get a job with anything Republicans don’t like. They will sabotage and destroy it any way they can. High speed rail? That costs money! Forget that it will be an economic blessing for the nation.

Guys like Bill were against the Erie Canal. They hate America and love their party.

The topic of air travel & air pollution has raised it’s ugly head. Here is a perspective on the topic. We have not heard much discussion on this, compared to, say, power generation, automobiles and trucks. My guess is that the hydrocarbon output from over-the-road land-based sources is far greater. It would follow that air traffic hydrocarbon output is minimal, compared with these others. It is worth noting that nobody, so far, has come up with an alternative, and/or some other solution, as far as I am aware. Note that it is not now clear how we keep up the international transport and travel that the world now depends on, with zero high altitude hydrocarbon pollution. This is not John Kerry’s fault, and I do not expect him to be responsible for solving that particular problem for the world.

Psst, hey Lil Bill, I’ve heard that the next big energy play will be whale oil, or was it kerosene, or soft coal or fire wood? Must be one of those , cause we should NEVER look to the future!

Wow, so Democrats can never fly on a private jets. One must use the technology available, even if one is trying to bring about better technology.

Tell you what, you want to make it a controversy, all Republicans must now fly coach on sold out flights no-matter-what. Then you can get upset if a Democrat flies in a private jet. Until then, find something real to get upset about. Oh, right, that’s a lot harder to come by, isn’t it?

Manufacturing solar panels might be a good idea, but wind farms are not; industrial models are over 300-feet high and cause not only serious noise pollution but also damage to both the surrounding terrain and wildlife (including birds). Their capacity is also low. If our intent is to protect nature and the environment for future generations, then building massive turbines in some of the truly unspoiled areas left in the world makes little sense. In short, wind farms mar beautiful places but, as we have seen, do little to actually help save nature in the long run. While solar energy enjoys similar capacity factor issues, other sources, such as hydropower, biofuels, and even clean coal, remain viable, less obtrusive, and potentially more efficient forms of clean power. Wind farms are simply not what they are cracked up to be. Solar energy would be better but as of the end of 2018, the U.S. had 64.2 GW of installed solar–enough to power 12.3 million American homes. Solar energy accounts for only 1.6% of total U.S. electricity generation.
