Since the republican party comprises 25% (or less) of the American electorate – and since we democrats control the House, the Senate AND the White House – why don’t we just work with the few (the VERY FEW) rational republicans still extant in the Senate and simply ignore the rest, since they’re obviously mentally unstable to the point of being unable to discern reality, anyway.
The G.O.P. is obviously dying if not already dead, as evidenced by their unswerving continued loyalty to a man who continues to maintain that he won the 2020 election in the face of overwhelming evidence that he most certainly DID NOT and who just as obviously attempted to overthrow the government by inciting insurrection on January 6th.
There is no longer ANY REASON why we should pay even the slightest bit of attention to their pitiful yammering, other than to maintain the National Guard around the Capitol to guard against their possible attempt to seize control by force again.
Until we can OUTLAW republicanism, we should just ignore it!
It IS going to be hard, especially if the Republican doofuses in Congress continue to insist on protecting him through snow and rain and heat and gloom of night.
I had a dream last night of 45 Republican Senators, all on their knees and this time they were kneeling in front of Trump instead of behind him: doing what one does in that subservient position.
They still fear Trump and remain his boot-licking bitches. There are Muppets that have more autonomy than these creeps. Sorry Jim Henson, but the analogy of Trump having his hand up the asses of all these Senators to get them to move and speak was just too strong.
Trump will be acquitted of the impeachment by reason of cowardice on the part of the GOP Senators. He is intimidating the jury and that’s just fine by the Republican Party.
Biden is trying to apply cool reason to the flames of insurrection and discord. Will take some time to build up enough pressure to make a difference but it will get there. Just like the CV-19 struggle. It will never disappear. Only time and effort will see its reduction to manageable size.
EOs because Trump didn’t want to wait for the Republican controlled House and Senate to write and pass the legislation for him to sign – and take the small chance that a few Republicans find their dusty ol’ unused spines and reject his most evil desires.
Trump wanted to commit his atrocities and evil deeds without waiting – and so he used EOs to Presidentially Proclaim and MAKE IT SO.
Anything done by EO can be as easily undone by EO.
And thus in less than a week Biden has MADE IT NOT SO.
But if Biden wants to make progress and not just reverse the pre-existing evil EOs, he knows full well that he needs to negotiate with both House and Senate (and given the razor-thin majority in the Senate, also with the endangered moderates of the Republican party) to get solid legislation written so he can pass it.
But solid legislation takes time, and negotiation, and hard work to write and pass.
There are plenty of problems for Biden to deal with, most of which would have been less difficult if we’d had competent leadership for the last four years. I seriously doubt that Trump’s “legacy of lies” rates very high on Biden’s “to do” list. If making Trump look bad is the result of working on the mess he left, so be it, but it’s an inevitable side effect, not a project.

There’s no point trying to break it, just leave it where it “lies”.

Yeah. He’s a common, or garden variety old-style politician. He does lie, but mostly just by exaggeration.

If you tell a lie but people believe it, regardless of proof that it’s a lie, is it still a lie? /s

Lies are easy, making them believable is a lot harder, but some are good at it!

Trump’s 30,573 lies in office, 504 falsehoods on November 2, 2021 alone, will live in infamy.

I would have thought the American people need to try harder themselves to break the orange idiots legacy.
