Beep… beep… beep… c’mon back, keep ‘er coming… back to the 21st century and officially back to our American ideals — the humanitarian and democratic ideals that most of us never left in the first place.
Every four years, there is much ado about striving for American unity. As we now know, about one out of three Americans does not approve of, nor support democracy. This is a grave and formidable obstacle in our quest for unity, although betting against two out of three Americans is foolhardy in the extreme. We shall overcome.
We might try supporting a better educated citizenry and a Secretary of Education capable of reducing the 20% number of all teens who never finish high school. I suspect there is a significant overlap between these two groups. Is it possible proof of graduation or any equivalent could be required in order to vote?
A Toast to AmericaTo the Rule Of Law: EqualityTo the Constitution: StrengthTo the Amendments: GrowthTo the Bill of Rights: JusticeTo the United States of America: Freedom For All
The average college graduate pays about $7800 more a year in federal taxes than the average high school graduate. Over 30 years, that totals about $234,000. If that’s divided by the 4 years it takes to get a college education, the government would break even if it paid every student $58,500 a year to attend school. This doesn’t even consider that with the degree, the person is less likely to ever need unemployment or welfare, and that more students would complete high school if they could see a clear way to a good job. They would also be paying a larger amount in all other types of taxes, social security and Medicare The best investment we could make to keep America strong is to not just forgive all student loans but to make all higher education, including trade schools, etc totally free, as long as the student is making decent grades, and increase the number of schools and teachers to make room for all who can profit from the education. There is no better way to spend money than, to give our people every opportunity to be the best they can be. Yes, It’s good for them individually, but the country is made up of individuals, so what’s good for one is good for the country.. We don’t, even during a time of high unemployment, have so much a lack of jobs as we have a lack of people who have the skills to perform the jobs that are available- in other words, a lack of education.
And as Biden and Harris are trying to build a stairway out of the hole, McConnell and his ilk will be releasing termites and flying monkeys with hacksaws.
This might have been a more accurate depiction of where we are if it had Mitch McConnell standing at the top or the pit dropping anvils onto the edifices Biden and Harris were trying to build to get out of that hole.

Actually, Trump and McConnell (and their toadies) were aiming for a much deeper hole.

Moscow Mitch and his cronies are busy trying to replace the blueprint with a lithograph of Escher’s Relativity.

It is a daunting task, but still quite possible with determined effort.

Not realistic. Were’s the rubble and pile of smoldering oil-soaked rags?
