Because Facebook and Twitter (and Amazon and …) are actually judging him on the basis of his behavior; but our government is set on the assumption that once a person has been elected, (s)he’s automatically sane and good enough. Amendment 25 should work to handle this if someone is losing it… but this has now had a very obvious counter-example. The founders were blind to something that we are seeing more and more: They assumed that most of the people finding their way into government would have the best interests of the country at heart.
First of all, the button to press wouldn’t be on his desk but locked in a briefcase. I would imagine they’ve already taken the precautions of changing the code and he only thinks he’s got the actual codes.
Hmmm?….who can say that after he told the russians the nuclear football numbers on his first days in office…..maybe the numbers were changed and since he never listened to updates anyway, they just never updated him…?…oh…wow…why didn’t I think of that 4 years ago? It would have done wonders for my blood pressure. :)
He thinks he has the codes… with so many of his staff and military leaders merely blowing smoke up his you-know-what, while doing what they feel is best instead of carrying out his orders, it’s unlikely…
The founding fathers could never have dreamed of starting the destruction of the entire world by pushing a ‘button’. . . . . they would have feared buttoning up their clothes.
Because Putin told Pence not to use the 25th Amendment and told Moscow Mitch not to allow a fast Impeachment of a clear and present danger to the USA. That’s why.
The good thing is, I don’t think the Generals that Trump referred to as suckers and losers, are likely to follow that command at this time.
I’d worry more that Putin might launch his and Trump won’t allow any immediate retaliation, or even any counter defense. And no, I’m not that worried about that happening, but it would be a more relevant concern at this time.

Because the nuclear arsenal dates back to the fifties, before we figured out how to write proper terms of use.
Also the whole bit about private companies not being public utilities.

You can’t do it alone, trump, and i don’t believe there is anyone foolish (read “stupid”) enough to launch a suicidal attack.
