In the first nine months in this house three alarms developed dead batteries and most of the alarms were past usable lifetimes. I replaced all of them and installed 10-years Lithium batteries. It was cheaper to buy the alarms and batteries separately.
We had to get a new alarm for the kitchen. The old one would get giddy when I boiled water and ignore burnt toast. And I mean burnt! Do not, ever, put a croissant in the toaster oven.

I just put up new smoke detectors. They have a “hush” feature to silence false alarms. I said “Look! Mama can cook again!”

Well yeah. Smoke alarm goes off…. Dinner’s ready!

Smoke detectors should have voice command software where all you have to do is yell “I’m just cooking Dinner” and it shuts off.

I relocated one that would go off when I made toast, not burnt toast, just your everyday golden toast.

He owns and runs a restaurant. Either he should be cooking at home or bringing home the daily leftovers, both saving money and food.
