When I first started brushing my cat Kirby, he enjoyed it a lot. When I sat the brush down, he put his paw into the soft bristles, contracted his paw muscles and picked it up to study it closer. I have never, before or since, seen a cat pick up something that way.
Interesting. My experience is that medium and long haired cats hate grooming where short haired ones are most likely to purr. With Pippi’s temperament I can understand. Note the band-aid in panel 2. It wasn’t there in panel 1.
Not long after I got my first place, my older brother found a completely feral kitten rummaging through his trash and gave her to me. I gained her trust by brushing her with an old toothbrush, which started her purring immediately. Same size and texture as mom’s tongue. Had her for 15 years.

Fargo sticks his tongue out when being brushed-I have a cat who does that too.

We had an anti-social cat who loved brushing. You could call him by running your thumb over the bristles.

Note the band aid in the second panel.
