The Corporate Democrats would never suck up to progressives until the first Wednesday in November and then completely forget them would they? Tell me it ain’t so.
Democrats are, in socioeconomic terms, centre-right, in social i.e. personal rights and freedoms, centre-left. The Republicans in both dimensions are reactionary. In foreign policy they’re both by contemporary Western standards reactionary i.e. imperialist, in the neocolonial sense.
Finally, someone called it right: Coup d’état means a blow (or a cut) of state. Coup itself means merely a blow, such as a head injury. Homophobia (really homosexophobia) means fear of the same thing, also shortened too much.
Get your definitions right. The Dems are center-right. The reps are radical right. I’ve voted for conservatives. Calling the current batch conservatives is like calling a nuclear bomb a firecracker.
With a Dem in the WH and controlling both houses of Congress, it’s the time to introduce and push for truly progressive measures. If the center and right push back, then there is something called compromise. That’s how it works. It’s an incremental process.
Let’s see what happens. Warnock and Ossoff seem to be very promising. Let’s realize that the party supporting the weak will generally have a more difficult time organizing and maintaining it’s advantage. Let’s see if we can move forward.
You do know you can’t turn the ship of state on a dime, right? This country is deeply, deeply divided. Change will not be quick or painless. Democratic control of Congress and the Presidency is a change in the right direction. Not a big change, but, to quote someone, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a first step.
The cartoonist just can’t accept that Bernie did in fact: NOT get cheated in the Democratic caucuses and primaries. He is not an official member of the party but was allowed to participate as a courtesy. Sen. Sanders is certainly not ‘owed’ the nomination/presidency as Mr. Rall likes to believe.
Democrats are not “center right”, they are center left. MOST Americans are moderates.
Sanders wasn’t cheated. Bernie, or at minimum one of his staffers, like tRump should have known the rules of their respective party primary. Remember, in 2016 both made the very same complaints about their respective party, He’s as big a liar as tRump, just the other side of the coin. With all his years in congress, both the House and the Senate, Bernie knows better than most here that all his promises could never pass into law. His promise to join the Democrat Party was as empty and calculated as all his social promises are. I do not oppose “American socialism”, but I do oppose those who only use the idea to fool some of the people all of the time.
“Who gives a shit about democracy, if I’m not getting my exact political choices anyway? Everyone who disagrees with me on anything is exactly the same!”
Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer;Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;Right-wing anarchy is loosed upon the world,The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of Democracy is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of Trump’s crazed ranting.

Democrats ARE center-right. Agree. The party of Trump, however, is considerably worse. Oh, and much further right.

Well, what else could Mr. Rall draw a cartoon about? Trump’s hour long attempt to persuade the Georgia Secretary of State to commit a major crime?

Trump is evil. His brownshirt storm troopers are destroying our capitol right now.
Loser Republicans have again totally embarrassed the USA in the eyes of the world.

So, Ted, any comments now that there has been actual ARMED INSURRECTION instigated by #45?

One day later and the question “so how bad would a coup be?” is not so rhetorical, is it?
