Of course you are. You’re forced to engage with him because you work with him. He probably doesn’t have any friends in real life.

Some of us are not particularly close to other people, even those who mean most to us. I talk to my brothers once a year, usually at Christmas for about 10 minutes per conversation. We grew up when long distance was expensive and you kept calls short. We get along fine, no feuds or arguments between us, just very little to talk about. They have more normal relationships with other friends and family members so I think a lot of the lack of communication is my fault. I talk with the one friend I have that I go out and do stuff with about once a month, and we will meet up every 2 or 3 months to go see a movie or do something else. The people I work with, I seldom do any social stuff with, but they are the people I see day in and day out, so although our interactions are all at work, they are the people I am probably closest to. Those are all the people in my life. Before anyone asks, I never had children, and my wife and parents are long since deceased.
