Kids today live in a sterile bubble. Their bodies cannot build up tolerance to anything. One kid coughs and the entire school is closed down for a week. If a kid gets chicken pox? Heaven forbid. When I was a kid, if one kid got measles, all the mothers sent their kids over to play with the infected one. You will get it eventually so get it over with. You got over the flu. How is a child supposed to build immunities if they are never exposed to anything? I simple cough and the kid is sick for ages. We had a spoonful of Buckley’s. “It tastes awfull but it works” And it did. We were never sick for more than a day…not two weeks.
As a little kid, my mother once washed my mouth with Fels Naptha after finding me in the neighbor’s dog house sharing a chew bone with the dog. The dog was generous with his stuff – Mom was generous with the Fels Naptha. Fels Naptha does not taste good. I haven’t chewed a bone ever since.
