Ive never seen Adam watch any prime time crime dramas, but he has the mindset of an avid fan

Adam may be onto something. If he were redoing the floors he would have had to move the furniture too

If Hannigan was up to something he’d move the carpet out in the middle of the night. But Hannigan is smart. He knew no one would be suspicious if he moved the carpet in broad daylight. That is except for detective Adam. The real clue will be when Hannigan takes down his Christmas lights! Then Adam will have positive proof that Hannigan is up to no good.

The phrase “perpetrated a murder” is an interesting and unusual construction.
