There are bound to be leftover vegetables unless Peter is a healthy eater.

Well, I’m no healthy eater, and I don’t have leftover vegetables.

    When I was 16, I ate 6 meals a day was 6’ 1" tall and weighed 145 pounds.

Now I can dream about 6 meals and gain 5 pounds.

My grandparents were always at war over leftovers. My grandmother would cook enough food for 3 days and my grandfather, who apparently hated leftovers, would eat it all. Odd thing was, my grandfather was quite thin his whole life. I reckon it was the traditional Alabama diet that did it (lots of vegetables (mostly home grown), lard (not vegetable shortening), and little to no industrially processed food).

One of the things I miss from my youth are leftovers. Small portions of meals would stack up in the fridge and then one day we’d have a leftovers buffet meal. But then, there were six in the house, now it’s only two.

Paige would go on to use the word in, I think, 2002, explaining that the family waited until Peter got over his illness to celebrate Thanksgiving because they hate leftovers.

Roger and Andy needed to take Peter to a doctor. For a comic strip teenager, he eats too much.
