How ANY Republican can, with a straight face, put the words ‘Trust me’ in a sentence, and hope to be believed, boggle the imagination.

Trump couldn’t have done it without the willing collusion of the Republican Party. They have a choice now—either keep supporting the very worst president in American history, a president who actively worked to undermine the basis of American democracy (such as it is), who trampled on the separation of powers, who violated the norms of decent behavior (I could go on), or begin to crawl painfully back to some kind of decency. Perhaps its too late. Maybe you need to start all over with the decent and honorable conservatives who realized what was going on and refused to support Trump or even left the party. They need somewhere to go.

Dear Mr. Ramirez: Now that you are definitely off of Team Trump, I’d like to make request as one who was hardly part of it, for many of my fellow conservatives who have sadly spent five years watching those who are usually our allies during this train wreck. We would like to have you be more supportive now of conservatives actually trying to correct the problems of our teetering nation. There are a lot freshman Republican congressman who are going to need the help, to say nothing of the need to REALLY get the GOP presidential nomination right in 2024. We need guys like you to be less pig headed from now on. As for you all you liberals who feel the need to post really horrible comments over the years for these cartoons and those of Henry Payne, I would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

Well, Mike, you finally realize Emperor DJT has no clothes?! Even a broken clock is right twice a day, I guess. Once Trump leaves office, the final verdict on his legacy might well be the next Presidential race in 2024. There would be the 2022 midterms before that, with the GOP defending twice as many Senate seats as the Dems. If we bring Covid under control in the US and achieve herd immunity to it by then, the Dems would have a really good shot at recapturing the Senate Majority (after hopefully winning a 50/50 split after the GA runoffs). Weather or not that happens, would Trump’s spell over the GOP be broken? Will the GOP nominee be a “Trumpian” nominee like FL Gov. Jim DeSantis or FL Sen. Rick Scott, or will the nominee be a more “Old school” Conservative like TX Sen. Ted Cruz or KY Sen. Rand Paul? Time will tell. In the world of American politics, one year is an eternity.
