The PROBLEM with a big tent is that there are an awful lot of agendas. The PROBLEM with a small tent is that it doesn’t hold enough voters. The GOP has solved that by embracing cultism, but it’s not a solution I’m going to accept.
Just as the far right evangelicals cults claimed all the credit for putting the Fat Orange Clown in place, factions of the far left are now claiming the same for Biden. He is going to have to struggle to get them to hear the same drummer.
If we could only get back to normal and let those just left of center joust with those just right of center we could start making some decent progress again.
Getting really sick a d tired of cleaning up GOP messes. The Saint Reagan syndrome continues though he all but destroyed the economy for the majority of Americans with his “trickle down economics” bs that keeps being passed around. A Democrat and .com helped that recovery. The “W” years all but destroyed the World economy. Obama got us back on track in spite of an obstructionist GOP. Even so, the GOP obstructionist success made it impossible to pass infrastructure bills to put the average American back to work. And now Biden and the House will have to work to repair what they can with the possibility of McConnell, “Obstructionist in Chief”, still being leader. Think your vote does not count? Your support for OSSOFF in GA is essential!
If OSSOFF and Warnock are elected Senators, then McConnell is no longer Leader of Senate. He is still very powerful, but he is not able to wield the power to obstruct he has held far too long, vote vote vote in the January runoff
The strength of the democratic party is that it is a coalition of interests. The weakness of the democratic party is that it is a coalition of interests.
Results of an international study on the democratic values of political parties was summarized in this link with respect to US Democrats and Republicans. They found that the democratic values of the Democratic party have not varied much over decades. In contrast, the democratic values of the Republicans have been seriously declining over the last few decades. They term this an asymmetric polarization.
Spot on Mr. Kallaugher, Dems need to set their priorities if they are to defeat Trumpism and convince 70M voters who didn’t vote for them that they matter too. That in and of itself will defeat Trumpism…
It really depends on the Georgia senate vote, if dems get the senate they will be able to untangle. The majority in Georgia voted for Biden, they can also vote for dem senators.
Washington remained above the fray; he wanted to be a president of all the American citizens. The most important reason was he believed unity, not division, was necessary for a democratic republic to survive. Washington believed that political parties would divide and destroy the young United States.
His thought, in what became known as the Farewell Address in 1796, is clear: “the spirit of party”
“…..serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection.”
Throughout his political life, and until his death in 1799, George Washington was confident that the country could and should function without the existence of political parties.

It’s really too bad for American politics that the system only allows for two parties.

He has a point, The democrats are not a hive-minded party and will have to struggle to advance their diverse agenda.

Isn’t it still the duty of the American people to decide which direction this country goes? How about listening to “our better Angels?”

How about the poor and middle class voting their self-interest for a change instead of falling for the same old “stay the course” big business loves?
