I want funding for good policing. And good emergency mental and medical care. And other social services. What I do NOT want funded is gangs of white-supremacist criminals in blue uniforms.

“Defund the Police” is a really terrible expression for a good idea. It makes people who are ignorant and uninformed think the idea is to eliminate police departments across the board, when it does not mean that at all. I wish whoever coined the phrase had come up with something less inflammatory…
Where I live, starting cops (first 2 years) make under $25,000/ year. With that bad of pay (for risking their lives), psychopaths are likely the only applicants.
