A new administration should take a look at those unqualified judges and find a way of removing them.

Because packing the courts could be the only way any progress will be made. It’s the only way some kind of balance can be restored. The Democrats need to respond in kind instead of bringing a cap pistol to a gunfight.

Change the rule to 75% of the vote to confirm and you seat jurists that are acceptable to both parties and by necessity fairly middle of the road.

The number of Supreme Court justices is not set in the Constitution but has been 9 since 1869. Before that, it was common for Congress to change the number based on partisan politics. It will happen again short of a constitutional amendment setting the number.

Barret says the courts shouldn’t make law. Of course that doesn’t apply to her or other right wing judges who are glad too. She like most of her kind pretend to be Christian but she will be glad to kill the ACA. And to show how Pro Life she is she will condemn children to a living hell of poverty. What a champion of justice she is!!! /s

The word “Justice” is way out of place. Should be replaced by: “Go along to get along”.

The problems Republicans have on issue of court expansion is the same they have on the debt, opposition to dictators, free trade, character, personal responsibility. Having lied about each, they have no moral standing on any. You made that deal with Trump. Now you live with it.

My hope is that Democrats in the Senate run out the clock on Barrett’s nomination process between now and the election (not to mention the lame duck Congress between Election Day and holiday recess). And, when/if Biden is sworn in on 01/20, he can then nominate Merrick Garland (like Obama tried to do after Scalia’s demise) and the (hopefully) Democrat controlled Senate can finally confirm him. Biden could then start thinking of who to confirm if/when Thomas, Breyer and/or Scalia either die, fall ill or retire.

Heck, why not just nullify all the judicial appointments made during the dRumpth maladministration…nullify every executive action taken against the people’s best interests…nullify the dRumpth’s entire term in office as an illegally installed figurehead representing a foreign power’s assault on the United States of America. Nullify the dRumpth, McConnell, and every enabler GOP. Wow, that will take a lot of work.

Add two more states (and 4 more senators) and fix the courts to reflect the majority instead of a small slice of the minority.

It’s only “packing the courts” and “a power grab” if Democrats do it… Republicans always expect a free pass because they’re self-righteous.

And what would you call the farce perpetrated by The Repulsican Crime Cult now? They have wanted to reinstate a CONservative SUPREME KANGAROO COURT for years. It has become imperative they create one now to keep THE ORANGE BUFFOON in The White House so he and Mitch McMafia can stay out of jail.

@Say What Now ?: “A new administration should take a look at those unqualified judges and find a way of removing them.”

There are only two legal ways of removing federal judges…

    1) Impeachment

    2) Constitutional Amendment

I’m furious with the media for playing the Republican’s game by bringing up this hypothetical of Democrats packing the court when they regain control. Classic projection by the Republicans! Trumpster Fire spouts actual threats, vitriol, and lies, and instead the press jumps on a pundit’s suggestion? One dog barked at a shadow and the rest joined in without even knowing what the first one saw.

Glad that we are addressing the possibility that Trump and company would go for an overpack. Maybe get the older ones to retire and replace with his children (Chief Justice Tiffany? Justice Eric? Boy Justice/Baron Barron?) then add a few dozen more straight out of Trump U (Trump U Part 2: The Correspondence Law School Years).
