    Rall’s obviously convinced that we’ll mostly all live through another 4 years of the Mango Mistake, and maybe do even better after that by electing someone truly liberal. Rational people can agree to disagree, but I sure wish he’d stop trying to steal votes from Biden, because I’m not at all convinced that the US will ever get back from where Trump and McConnell (and friends) have taken us, much less what would happen with 4 more years to prepare their revolution.

    Life will still be difficult under Biden in America. We still have to recover from the damage done by Il Douche’s administration. And beyond that, we need to fix our dysfunctional system even if we do get back to ‘square one’.

    But let’s not get tripped up by extremist ideologies which would lead us toward the false equivalency which suggests that Il Douche is not worse than any other candidate, because he is!

    Rail is an extremist and there really is no difference between Him and Trump. Both of them espouse extremist views and the my way is the only way view ignoring the massive group in the middle who disagree with both. What’s the difference if you’re shackled (figuratively speaking of course) from someone on the right or someone on the left, you’re still shackled.

    things aren’t going to be so nice if Biden becomes President. I’m sure some people must think so, just as some people think a 2nd term of Trump will be wonderful. But this comic is being disingenuous about the desire to defeat Trump. Panels 2 and 3 will be markedly worse under Trump and just forget about panel 1. Police power will be emphasized under Trump’s “law and order” mandate and the paramilitary folks will be with the police adding to the firepower. Heck, the Proud Boy have announced that they are “standing by” waiting for their chance to take action. As for panel 4, Café Oblivious looks like a nice place. I’ve never been there. My life has not afforded me such luxuries and the struggle to care for my family consumes most of my time. When you consider it, being not aware of or not concerned about what is happening around one can take on many forms and it is a sorry state; but it is not as bad as claiming an issue is dear to oneself, yet laboring for its adversary.

    Imagine if Sanders were the nominee. There’d still be the wars (although Sanders has consistently voted NO on the Pentagon budget), but I think the other issues would be way different.

    Be nice if we had an election system that wasn’t wide open to election fraud.

    Should Brother Joe get the landslide victory over Dump that he needs to remove him from office, I still don’t envy him his mess to clean up. But, Dems have spent years and presidencies cleaning up behind Repub screw-ups and its about time we stay with Dem leadership for a few decades at least.

    I attended the 1964 Democratic election as a Young Democrat for Johnson. In April 1967 I burned by draft card in the Sheep’s Meadow Park in New York in the first mass draft card burning. I’ve never considered myself a Democrat since then, and I don’t consider myself a Democrat now. I’ve spent years of my life demonstrating and organizing on the left. I’ve done the whole gamut, from handing out leaflets to getting arrested to organizing large coalitions and organizing mass demonstrations. And I am convinced that we need to vote for Joe Biden. Trump is simply too dangerous. If you didn’t know that before, last night was proof. Once Biden is elected, we need to keep organizing on the left. That includes supporting and encouraging the left in the Democratic party, but it also includes local organizing on a whole range of issues, and it includes being willing to demonstrate against Biden when he deserves it—and he will. Of course Biden doesn’t have a radical analysis of US capitalism. That goes without saying. But at this moment, we need more than anything to defeat Trump.

    In the 233 year history of the United States, the only years when the Executive/Congress/Judiciary was to any degree not right of center were 1934(ish) thru 1967(ish), with the judiciary an exception until the mid-50’s.

    The Executive returned to the right in ‘68, the Congress did the same ~ ‘80, and the Judiciary mostly ~ ‘98/most definitely 2020.

    Society overall (including all age cohorts, including the too-young-to-vote-for-another-decade) is slightly left of center right now, unfortunately offset by gerrymandering and a Senate structure which denies power to large population states — viewed alternatively, apportions disproportionate power to citizens in states with low population/rural constituencies. These two issues will be a problem unless/until specifically rectified, which may be all but impossible due to the necessity of Constitutional amendments for implementation of reform methods.

    That said, conservative predilection for (1870) status quo/inertia regarding change of any sort is about to be overtaken by events — AGW climate change absolutely will drive Green New Deal-type legislation nlt the close of this decade, and render into shards illusory tRumpism as well as traditional US conservatism (which will regroup, better equipped to deal with reality than the present iteration).

    This may well be too late to emplace warming mitigation policy which is capable of forestalling even imminent (~ 1950) civilizational collapse, or global temp increase in excess of the survival of nearly all planetary life. But there is also a chance that dire outcome may not come true, and something at least slightly less onerous is still achievable.

    Which is more likely: 1) a tRump presidency/GOP Congress [important note: it is unusual for the winner of the presidency to fail to also win the Senate] results in a swift public shift to support of progressive climate change/health care/economic policies vital to both near and long term policy reformation; 2) …

    … 2) a Biden presidency responds more swiftly to increasingly bottom-up (demographic shift to left presently underway in America) progressive public policy pressure;

    3) discouragement of Democratic Party support (discouraging voting for Biden) does not result in voters who vote Blue down ballot while voting either® or (G) or (I) for President, no — instead, it discourages non-conservative voters from filling out a ballot, period.

    I read Teds article about Biden being a Republican. My running joke over the years has been that Clinton was the greatest republican the Democratic party ever produced, and that Obama was the last moderate republican. So what does that make Biden? I also said that a ham sandwich would make a better president than Donald. That’s exactly what I got. I’ll hold my nose and vote ‘em, but don’t expect me to like it.

    I don’t look at this as a knock on Biden… but rather its saying that a change in President is NOT going to right all the wrong in this country. Which is true… yet we won’t have the “leader” of the country fanning the flames for personal gain. Not to mention all of the other issues he has which are too numerous to list. So yes by all means vote for Biden, or if you are like, vote against Don the Con… but get that mf out.

    Ted, if I was drowning and was offered a choice between a rock (Trump) or a life preserver (Biden), do you think I’d be like, “F-off! I’m holding out for a lifeboat!”? Hell no! I’d take the damn life preserver! And I’m pretty damn certain many progressives will vote for Biden as well, even if they have to hold their noses doing so. Because they DEFINITELY don’t want four more years of the Orange Clown!
