How about this for a political cartoon concept: Draw Obama (or, at least, Uncle Sam) as Pericles holding a sword in his right hand and raising the severed head of Bin Laden (in place of Medusa with the snakes for hair) in his left. This is based on a famous Renaissance statue by Benvenuto Cellini.

“Justice” weighs and measures first, THEN acts. Well done on this one.

hear, hear! Oliphant regularly skewers all with equal glee, but the skewer of Lady Justice was uniquely appropriate in this case.

Odious as the crime was, this wasn’t Justice. Justice involves a laying of charges and trial in open court mwith evidence presented to impartial jurours or a judge. One side laying accusations and then hunting down the accused with summary execution doesn’t qualify as Justice.

Herb, you described court procedings…Justice is much larger than that. Osama chose not to appear for his charges.

Tell me what is justice when you have liberals and progressives that will cry foul when we kill the most evil man outside of Adolf Hitler but will give those evil SOB’s a pass when they run around killing women and children and beheading innocent people. We were kind to that creep by having him swim with the fishes. Most Countries would of done him alot worse.

Justice? Yes, Osama got what he deserved.

Now we need to dispensed justice on those in office who mislead America in an unnecessary war in Iraq, and trampled upon our consitutioanl liberties–Unless of course, everyone is content after Osama’s death with further wireless tapping, Patriot Act nonsense, TSA groping, enhanced interrogation, and spirailing war costs as part of the neo-American way since 9/11.

I want my pre 9/11 America back. Otherwise, Osama still has won by making us prisoners of our own fear, and turning American from the ideal of Athens to warlike Sparta

Funny thing, this “justice.” It apparently went from standing trial by jury impartially as possible to being shot unarmed in your home. This was a military action, not “justice.”

I’ve liked Oliphant since he worked for the Denver Post.

Had Bin Laden been captured instead of killed there would have to be a trial. A military tribunal would have been a farce. An impartial jury would have been impossible to find, and if it were found the resulting trial would have been even more of a circus than OJ Simpson’s. It was better this way.
