I actually got a “Yikes” out of a Geiger counter one day. My friend brought it to me for repair. When I opened it, I noticed a loose wire. I grabbed the to screw it back in place and “Yikes”. Geiger counters have high voltage in them (fortunately low current).

And here I thought it was programmed to say, “Run for your lives!”

Good one! I laughed so hard and long that I’m, oh what’s the word…. depleted?

He could program it with a song from Imagine Dragon.

Do kids in high school get to play with Geiger counters these days? When I was in HS in the late ’50s we were given Geiger counters by some government agency, possibly for emergencies but also for science class experiments. And we had some radio active samples that produced the familiar beeping, although probably not with very strong emissions.

Then came the second prototype… “Oh Crap, Oh CRAP, OH CRAP!”
