I agree w/ the rodent. The more so since so many of the kids aren’t masked. So far, the early returns are telling us that it isn’t just too early, it’s WAY too early. Though IF we’d done all the right things since March, including getting fast-return testing in place along with contact tracing; and seeing to it that people understood and complied with social distancing and masks… THEN it would probably be possible to reopen schools very slowly with lots of fallback options already figured out and lined up.
If you’re going to use children as vectors of a disease they will bring home to their families, why use school buses, boxcars would be more appropriate…
From The Washington Post: “In Georgia’s Gwinnett County, some 260 employees tested positive or had possibly been exposed to the coronavirus a day after teachers returned to work last week and were told to stay home. Alcoa City Schools in Tennessee recently opened, but a few days later a student tested positive for the virus. At Corinth High School in Mississippi, in-person classes started last week and within days five students tested positive for the coronavirus and others went into quarantine as a result of contact tracing, the school district said.” From the Indy Star: “A student at Elwood Junior Senior High School has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to an email sent to parents Monday evening. The student was in class July 30, the first day of class in Elwood Community Schools. The school is closed this week and students are receiving instruction virtually because at least one staff members has tested positive and several others were within close contact last week.”
Send politicians’ and the wealthy’s children (heck, and parents too!) into public schools for the first month (no excuses/absentees allowed). Let them be the canary in the coal mine for a change. After that we’ll know if it’s safe. If not, oh well… There’s more where they came from, right? Just like the GOP taught us.
The largest blind test is about to start.. kids without masks, vs kids that have, vs kids home schooled. Stay tuned for the results in a couple of months.
King Donnie needs to sit in the largest class room in the country without the mask he sometimes wears. His daily testing for himself and his cronies is false reassurance. It’ll tell him if he gets covid-19 but it won’t protect him from it. Then he can try hydroxychloriquin like he did before (???).
There was a reply on a website for a public school here in NC where a student said, “Last year they couldn’t keep the bathrooms clean so how will the clean the whole school each day?”
Just so you know, one of my grandkids attends the school where the second grader tested positive on the second day of school. He was tested last Thursday, has symptoms, but the parents sent him to school regardless. The entire GOP adn Trump administration is out of control insane and there are crazy people out there who believe crazy things.

Ok, all you political minded readers. Which of these students are from Republican families, and which from Democratic families?

I would like to see a Republican politician in every classroom, just to show how safe it is.

7 to 10 days for symptoms to be tested. 7-10 more days for increasing hospitalization. 7-10 more days for deaths to go up. The circle of Trump Virus.

Speaking of rats in cages . . . how long after the election will it take to cage Trump and his administration ?

Trump should be the canary in the class room, not kids.
