I never wore a uniform when I was in school.

My daughter in middle school used to coordinate outfits with her friends. It was a great bonding moment between her and her friends. Reading this about Elizabeth doing the same thing reminded me of those happy times.

Elly’s desire for school uniforms is very strange considering she would have been in high school in the 1960s and has proclaimed her hippie background proudly in many comic strips. You would think she might understand the difference between mandated school uniforms and girls uniting to choose what they want to wear.

My friends and I, in the last few years of high school, wore mostly black every Friday. I still wear black underclothes and socks.

That’s the whole point, Liz. So nobody tries to be individual and compete for the best looks. Focus on education and not on your clothes. After all, most private schools require uniforms and they have the best education – they must know something about uniforms and education.

At least it’s not the Marilyn Monroe lookalike dress. That comes later.

In the Corps I used to show my independence by wearing my Old cammies, sometimes. Still serviceable of course, but old and a bit faded. That’ll learn em.

Had to wear uniforms in high school (private school). It eliminated most the flack that comes with visible differences that [richer] high school girls will obsess on.

When I was in high School. anyone that wore non-white socks was called an “Agnes”. I had fluorescent fuchsia and lime green socks with respective matching sweaters and I wore them with pride, no matter what they called me. I had bought them with my employee discount at W.T. Grant’s.

I wore a uniform til high school. They were not flattering but it was what it was. I can see the benefits today. But I hated it then.

Elizabeth you are dressing as all the girls.

Yeah, uniforms should be required at Mom’s workplace. Perhaps that would help to save money.

The “tight an’ts “ she speaks look different on each girl.

Teenagers, especially girls do exactly that.

I hope they wear shorts or a skirt over those tights.

Is it cold enough for tights already?

Elizabeth goes to a school. A school is an institute of learning, not a fashion palace.

And as we all know…a teenage will only have one pair of tights and one t-shirt.

But you choose to wear the same thing as the cool kids, with school uniforms the choice is made for you.
