As long as the ring is not lost – big deal. Neither husband nor I have worn our wedding rings in decades.

I dont wear my ring at work, because I dont want it to get damaged or lost (it is just a tad loose)

I dont bother to wear it at home because that seems pointless, but otherwise anytime I go out it goes on

I’ve stopped wearing both my wedding ring and engagement ring (except for a special occasion when I’m dressed up). Why? Because I now live in Florida and the heat makes my fingers swell, making the rings tight AND because my hands are too often in a pool or ocean. Not practical.

An inexpensive steel band is the answer here.

What he did was a real No No. My father-in-law never wore his . He said “If I need a ring to prove I am married, I should not have gotten married in the first place. A ring is a symbol, nothing more.” But then he was an Archie Bunker doppelganger.

Hubby and I don’t wear ours all the time. They are very ornate, and both of us are lefties, so using a pair of pliers or a butcher knife makes the rings cut into our hands. I make all of our bread, and don’t like to get dough in the design. And then one day a gal in my knitting group remarked that she thought I was widowed because I didn’t wear a ring, and I decided it was time to put it back on. https://tinyurl.com/yy3r4rxz

My band is wide and holds moisture underneath it. For years (up to the recent unpleasantness) that didn’t matter to me. But with washing my hands frequently, my finger got badly irritated, so I had to take it off. I left it off long enough for the skin on my finger to heal, then tried wearing it again, but it got irritated quickly. So now I’m wearing a thinner band that was my grandfather’s wedding ring. No more irritation, and hubby can know I still claim him. :-)

(Also, I took off all my other rings to keep my hands cleaner and not give nasty things a place to nestle on my finger)

I’ve been divorced for 20 years. I wear a special ring on my left ring finger that belonged to my Mother. It means as much to me as my wedding ring did and won’t come off my hand until I die and it gets passed on. The other reason for wearing it on my left hand is my right ring finger has been broken several times and is difficult to get rings on and off. I can and do wear my Great Grandmothers wedding band on it though as it fits better. I’m not looking for another man in my life so it doesn’t really bother me in that way.

Why would you take it off to play soccer? You don’t use your hands in soccer, unless you are the goaltender.

The old ring fight. Ring doesn’t stop a member of the opposite sex from hitting on you.
