What scares me about Trump’s invasion of Portland and his proposed invasion of Chicago is that once he gets people used to seeing unidentified, BDU wearing “troops” in unmarked vans driving around and grabbing people off the streets, he can have anybody doing that, even the Klan and the Proud Boys. Maybe this is his test run for if he loses the election.
So answer me this; who “owns” the “well-regulated militia” in each state? I always understood the Guard was run by the individual states, unless called to active military duty by the Fed. If that’s true, or even mostly true, why not order “your” Guard to protect your citizens from this largely unknown threat? Who are they and why are they committing treason on the streets of Portland. (I define treason here as knowingly violating the Constitutional rights of citizens) Declare martial law in your state. Bring in the Guard, including air support. Corral the invaders, strip them of the military weapons and garb, and toss them in the hoosegow until they fess up. Who are they and who sent them, to begin with. What are their orders? Maybe set a very high bond. If any one of them uses the “I was just following orders” excuse, they automatically lose their Captain Chaos club membership.
Of course, Trump knows full well that there are no electoral-college votes for him from Oregon or the other mostly-Democratic jurisdictions he’s promised to invade, so he’s personally losing nothing. It will be up to the voters in those states to punish Trump’s down-ticket enablers (i.e., Republicans). Voters in other states who are rightfully appalled by this spectacle will be able to show their disgust up and down their own tickets.
Even if trump loses the election, and LEAVES the White House, we still have the republican senate, and the party to suffer. If Joe Biden is elected, they will still serve him like they did Obama and Clinton: Stonewall, dig for more dirt, continually throw mud in the hopes that it may stick, keep up the accusations, whether true or not. Keep him defending himself. Table any democratic bills from the House. (Republican playbook; chapters 1 through 6)
