Thus fulfilling the rethugican dream of decades of trying to do the same thing locally. An educated public is a direct threat to the fascist mentality of the GOP.

Does this apply to private (aka for profit) schools?

Food for thought on FOX TV while grocery shopping. When did they start the comedy venue?

Trumpy is blustering and schools are 85-90% state and local funded, anyway. Speaking of bluster, the L.A. teachers union says schools can’t reopen unless charter schools get shut down and police defunded. They also want Medicare-for-All, a wealth tax, a federal bailout and a pony. (Ok, I made up the part about the pony, but it’s being discussed) :)

The feds have done such a great job with PPE in hospitals, can’t wait to see what they do for schools. Teachers can’t also.

This would be the perfect time to eliminate the Dept of Ed completely.

Reduce income taxes to match the elimination of federal funding. States can then justify increasing income taxes to cover the federal “shortfall”. Now they have the money in hand with no federal strings attached. They can adjust their education systems to meet the needs of their population instead of the one size fits all crap we have now.

Every year we claim a whopping $250 Educator Expense Deduction on our Federal income taxes for my teacher wife. Never near the true amount, laughable, but we’ll take it.
