The other day I watched the 27 meter high dive for men on TV. They hope to make it an Olympic sport. There were four spotters in the landing pool—just in case. Luckily, all they had to do was watch.
In my experience that 2×4 does not need to be soggy, in fact soggy makes it harder to get a good grip.
