I am currently reading a book entitled The Next Pandemic, by Ali S. Khan, who was the director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness, with the CDC.
Bear in mind that this book was published in 2016. “It is possible that this strain of swine flu did originate in Asia; we don’t know. Either way, it drove home the point that no country can afford to isolate its public health system. it has to be part of a global public health infrastructure. You can’t get away with saying, “We’re the richest country in the world, We have good doctors and a solid health care surveillance system. We’re safe.” It just doesn’t work that way.”
This cartoon reminds me how sad I am that the elephant is the representative symbol for the republican party. Elephants are gentle, magnificent mammals. To use such a regal animal as and emblem for trumpanzees is heart wrenching. A republican pig on the other hand would be a more fitting and suitable replacement. GOP pigs has a nice ring to it, and even that is an insult to pigs.
I know, lets have a surprise birthday party for granddad – the whole clan can meet at his place and help him blow out the candles. It will be fun to see Aunt Harriet again.
My religious friends tell me that God answers every prayer, but sometimes the answer is no. When a small church in rural Oregon held in-person services at the height of the infection spread and prayed for His protection, apparently the answer was a big NO as 112 of them caught the disease at that one service.

Keep in mind that bravery is not the absence of fear. Bravery is shown by taking the correct actions even though there is fear.
Keep in mind that viruses don’t care who you vote for in elections. You are a resource, that’s all.
